Reuters earlier quoted<\/a> an unidentified U.S. law enforcement official who said the sheriff\u2019s insistence on sending evidence to a crime lab in Florida instead of the FBI\u2019s facility is impeding progress.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Door-cam images emerged of an armed masked person with gloves at Nancy Guthrie\u2019s Tucson-area home, and authorities have recently discovered gloves in the area that they hope are tied to the alleged abduction.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Nanos told the station that he spoke with the FBI early Thursday about submitting the gloves to the bureau\u2019s lab, but talked the agency out of it.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cActually the FBI just wanted to send the one or two they found by the crime scene, closest to it \u2013 mile, mile and a half,\u201d he told KVOA. \u201c… I said, \u2018No, why do that? Let\u2019s just send them all to where all the DNA exist, all the profiles and the markers exist.\u2019 They agreed, makes sense.\u201d <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The anonymous official in the Reuters article, however, sang an entirely different tune.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s clear the fastest path to answers is leveraging federal resources and technology,\u201d the person said. \u201cAnything less only prolongs the Guthrie family\u2019s grief and the community\u2019s wait for justice.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Guthrie, the mother of \u201cToday\u201d show host Savannah Guthrie, has not been seen since the night of Jan. 31.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
