Few women in country music have racked up as much street cred as Michigan\u2019s Rachel Brooke<\/a><\/strong>. And few bring as much pain and real-world weariness behind their words and voices as Rachel. She won\u2019t be selling out theaters or arenas coast to coast anytime soon. That\u2019s because she\u2019s always put her integrity and songcraft first. But to those that know her, Rachel Brooke\u2019s music and legacy loom large. <\/p>

Dubbed the \u201cRattlesnake of Independent Country,\u201d (or the \u201cQueen of Underground Country\u201d around here), she\u2019s an Ameripolitan Award winner whose assembled quite a diverse catalog. From Gothic country, to underground roots, to avant garde, she\u2019s had many seasons in her career. She grew up singing and playing bluegrass and country in a family band, before playing in a punk band early on. <\/p>

But Rachel Brooke\u2019s new album The One\u2019s For You<\/em> out April 24th promises to be her most bona fide country album yet. In fact, it\u2019s super country, classic<\/em> country, self-produced by Rachel herself, and engineered by the Grammy nominated\/Emmy Award-winning Jake Shives. Though in the past she\u2019s often tapped into dark side of life\u2014including on her 2025 acoustic album Sings Sad Songs<\/em>\u2014she often turns to humor to get her point across on the new album, even if there\u2019s darkness behind it. <\/p>\n\n\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a record that tells stories and ask questions, circling the world, the self, and what\u2019s worth holding onto, and what\u2019s worth letting go. I poke fun everything, including myself, and truly enjoyed every moment creating this record,\u201d<\/em> Brooke says. You can hear this in the album\u2019s lead single \u201cI Chose Poorly\u201d (listen below). <\/p>

The album also comes after a time where Brooke took an extended hiatus from music and social media, going through a period she describes as an \u201cego death and crippling internal despair,\u201d<\/em> but assures, \u201cI sure had a great time writing these songs.\u201d <\/em><\/p>

Brooke continues, \u201cHonestly, It\u2019s been a whirlwind these last few years. And with everything going on in the world Ive often wondered what\u2019s the point? I don\u2019t know how else to say it, But this record saved me and I cannot wait to share it all with you.\u201d<\/em><\/p>
