{"id":2283892,"date":"2026-02-16T10:46:46","date_gmt":"2026-02-16T10:46:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/celebrity.land\/en\/?p=2283892"},"modified":"2026-02-16T10:46:46","modified_gmt":"2026-02-16T10:46:46","slug":"council-grants-now-open-to-support-more-music-events-for-under-18s","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/celebrity.land\/en\/council-grants-now-open-to-support-more-music-events-for-under-18s\/","title":{"rendered":"Council grants now open to support more music events for under 18s"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div id=\"\">&#13;<br \/>\n                        &#13;<\/p>\n<p class=\"lead\">Date: 16 February 2026<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<p class=\"lead\">Category: Culture and arts<\/p>\n<hr\/>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n                            &#13;<br \/>\n&#13;<\/p>\n<p class=\"lead\">Belfast City Council is supporting a number of initiatives this spring to improve access to music and arts events in the city, and encourage more people to explore the city\u2019s cultural scene.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size:12pt\"><span style=\"font-family:Aptos,sans-serif\"><span style=\"font-family:&quot;Arial&quot;,sans-serif\">Teenage Kicks, a new grant scheme, will provide \u00a32,000 of support to venues and promoters to put on more gigs and concerts for under 18s.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Open to venues, festivals and event organisers, it aims to support safe, high-quality nights out for young people who love live music \u2013 all without the alcohol.<\/p>\n<p>The deadline for submissions is 3pm on Sunday 1 March, with more info to how to apply available by emailing <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.belfastcity.gov.uk\/cdn-cgi\/l\/email-protection#80e3f5ecf4f5f2e5c0e2e5ece6e1f3f4e3e9f4f9aee7eff6aef5eb\" style=\"color:#467886; text-decoration:underline\"><span class=\"__cf_email__\" data-cfemail=\"0360766f777671664361666f65627077606a777a2d646c752d7668\">[email\u00a0protected]<\/span><\/a>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Grants will also be distributed in March for Sounds Atypical, awarding \u00a35,000 to deaf, disabled and neurodivergent musicians to create inclusive music events, following a recent funding call.<\/p>\n<p>Run in partnership with the University of Atypical, the fund supported nine musicians and events last year, including performances at the Bounce Arts Festival, the Black Box and Botanic Gardens.<\/p>\n<p>Ahead of Fleadh Cheoil this summer, another three traditional musicians will also receive a grant of \u00a33,000 each, thanks to the council\u2019s continued partnership with TG4\u2019s Gradam Cheoil Awards.<\/p>\n<p>The scheme, delivered in partnership with The Duncairn, offers mentorship and other professional development opportunities to help showcase the city\u2019s trad scene.\u00a0 <\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size:12pt\"><span style=\"font-family:Aptos,sans-serif\"><span style=\"font-family:&quot;Arial&quot;,sans-serif\">Applications close at 12pm on Friday 6 March. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13;<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom:16px\"><span style=\"font-size:12pt\"><span style=\"font-family:Aptos,sans-serif\"><span style=\"font-family:&quot;Arial&quot;,sans-serif\">A further \u00a345,000 of support is also being provided to Gig Buddies, run by Black Box, to pair more adults with learning disabilities and\/or autism with volunteers to attend monthly events together.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The scheme helps participants feel more confident in enjoying a night out in the city, with a helping hand from a buddy who loves music, theatre or dance as much as they do.
