UNCSA and Percussive Arts Society<\/a> North Carolina Chapter proudly present Day of Percussion\u2122 on Saturday, March 28,
\n 2026!<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

We are excited to welcome guest artists <\/span>Dave Hall<\/a> and <\/span>Ethan Strickland<\/a>. Day of Percussion\u2122 2026 is hosted by <\/span>Ksenija Komljenovi\u0107<\/a> and the <\/span>UNCSA Percussion Studio, and will feature the <\/span>Intercollegiate Ensemble 2026, coached by <\/span>Dave Hall, bringing North Carolina\u2019s collegiate percussion programs together. Additional clinics
\n will be offered by guest clinicians and faculty experts throughout the day.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Meet the artists<\/h2>\n

Ksenija Komljenovi\u0107 (Host)<\/h2>\n
\n

<\/a><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

Ksenija Komljenovi\u0107 is a percussionist, educator and composer who gained international
\n recognition winning the International Percussion Competition Luxembourg. The first
\n Serbian woman to earn a doctorate in percussion, she serves as faculty and Head of
\n Department at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts.<\/span><\/p>\n

In 2024, she made her Carnegie Hall debut and premiered Episodes for Marimba and Orchestra,
\n written for her by Oscar nominee and six-time Emmy winner Chris Boardman. Her concerto
\n appearances include works by Viet Cuong, Mason Bates, and Emmanuel S\u00e9journ\u00e9.<\/span><\/p>\n

She co-founded Vesna Duo with pianist Liana Harron; their debut album featuring her
\n marimba and piano arrangement of Stravinsky’s “The Rite of Spring” was praised by
\n The Wall Street Journal as “smashingly effective.” Her compositions draw on her Slavic
\n and Balkan heritage. Ksenija is a Marimba One artist.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n

Dave Hall<\/h2>\n

\"Dave<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

Dave Hall is Associate Professor of Percussion at the University of North Texas College
\n of Music. Under his direction, the UNT Percussion Ensemble won the 2025 PAS International
\n Percussion Ensemble Competition.<\/p>\n

Dave performs extensively as a keyboard and multi-percussion soloist, chamber musician,
\n jazz drummer, timpanist, and steel pan player. He commissions and records works for
\n solo and chamber percussion while producing collaborative projects with his students.<\/p>\n

An active composer published by C. Alan Publications, his works have been commissioned
\n and performed worldwide. He serves as adjudicator and clinician for concert and marching
\n percussion nationally and internationally. Since 2019, he has been Associate Music
\n Ensemble Coordinator and Music Design Consultant for the DCI World Champion Bluecoats
\n Drum and Bugle Corps.<\/p>\n

Dave is an endorsing artist for Pearl\/Adams, Remo, Innovative Percussion, and Sabian.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n

Ethan Strickland<\/h2>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

Ethan Strickland is an educator, performer, and collaborator currently serving as
\n Adjunct Assistant Professor of Percussion at Virginia State University.<\/p>\n

Ethan has presented clinics nationally at institutions including Vanderbilt University,
\n Arkansas State University, Fort Hays State University, and Shenandoah Conservatory.
\n He has performed with artists from Bang on a Can All-Stars, Heartland Marimba, S\u014d
\n Percussion, New Morse Code, and Arx Duo. As a collaborator, he has worked directly
\n with composers including Daijana Wallace, Keaton Garrett, Ancel Neely, and Nate Heyder.<\/p>\n

Ethan earned his Doctor of Musical Arts from Michigan State University, Master of
\n Music Performance from the University of Kansas, and Bachelor of Music from Reinhardt
\n University.<\/p>\n

He serves on the Percussive Arts Society’s Education Committee and the advisory board
\n for the International Foundation for Contemporary Music. Ethan is an endorsee of Black
\n Swamp Percussion, Vic Firth, and Zildjian.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div><\/div>\n
