In 2024, experimental London post-punk band Black Midi announced that they’re “indefinitely over<\/a>.” Last month, original guitarist Matt Kwasniewski-Kelvin suddenly and tragically died<\/a> at the age of 26. Kwasniewski-Kelvin’s former bandmates are now making music in different configurations. Geordie Greep released his solo debut The New Sound<\/a><\/em> in 2024, and now My New Band Believe, the new project<\/a> from bassist Cameron Picton, announce an LP of their own. <\/p>\n A year ago Cameron Picton unvelied My New Band Believe and shared their debut single “Lecture 25.” Their self-titled album drops this spring, and CD copies will come with bonus discs that feature seven different versions of the new song “Numerology.” Vinyl copies, meanwhile, include a 10″ single of the song. “Numerology,” which technically isn’t on the album, is a fast, dizzy, ecstatic rush of acoustic guitars, free jazz horn-squeaks, funky calypso bursts, and ba-ba-ba harmonies.
