Avatar: Fire and Ash<\/a>, the writer-producer-director is being honored with the Writers Guild of America West\u2019s 2026 Laurel Award for Screenwriting Achievement. This is the Guild\u2019s lifetime achievement award presented to members who have \u201cadvanced the literature of motion pictures and made outstanding contributions to the profession of the screenwriter.\u201d<\/p>\nCameron celebrated the win with a statement that doesn\u2019t include the words \u201cwell it\u2019s about time\u201d \u2014 but certainly gives that impression: \u201cI\u2019ve been writing these damn things since the start of my career, four and a half decades ago, so it is truly gratifying to receive the recognition of my fellow screenwriters through such a prestigious honor,\u201d he said. \u201cThis whole global industry, this whole fever dream we call cinema, starts with the written word.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
