Microdramas originated in China, where they are known as \u201cduanju.\u201d There, they have become a massive success, surpassing $6.9 billion in revenue in 2024. This prompted the U.S. to open its doors to the mini movies, which earned $1.4 billion in revenue in 2025. Microdramas are \u201cperfectly suited for the shorter attention spans of today’s online users,\u201d said Hello! magazine<\/u><\/a>.
