The<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>College of Music<\/span><\/span><\/a> offers the program under a new academic area \u2014 the music industry. This educational expansion demonstrates the university\u2019s focus on industry-centered education and experiential learning.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cThe addition of this new program is part of an overall expansion to match career paths in the rapidly changing music industry,\u201d said Greg Jones, associate dean of the college. \u201cOur partnership with the\u00a0<\/span>Herbe<\/span>r<\/span>t Wertheim\u00a0<\/span>College of Business<\/span><\/span><\/a>,<\/span>\u00a0the\u00a0<\/span>Jim Moran College of Entrepreneurship<\/span><\/span><\/a>\u00a0and industry collaborators\u00a0is\u00a0vital for building bridges to career opportunities for our students.\u00a0Flexible degree programs combined with professional mentorship across the spectrum offer\u00a0FSU students exciting opportunities in traditional and emerging job markets.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The Music Business degree program offers a curriculum that integrates music, business, law, marketing, technology and management, essential skills for graduates hoping to secure a career in sectors such as artist management, music publishing, recording and production, touring, licensing and emerging digital platforms. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Leading the program is\u00a0<\/span>Alan Blanchard,<\/span><\/span><\/a>\u00a0specialized\u00a0teaching\u00a0faculty\u00a0member\u00a0in\u00a0the College of Music.\u00a0Blanchard has a background in\u00a0artist management\u00a0and has released\u00a0GRAMMY-Award winning albums.\u00a0His\u00a0insights\u00a0will inform curriculum development\u00a0and student mentorship.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The upgraded studio allows students to work with industry-standard tools and technologies,\u00a0a central\u00a0component\u00a0of the curriculum.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
