Bono<\/a> has opened up about U2\u2019s<\/a> new \u2018Days Of Ash\u2019 EP and its politically charged tracks saying, \u201cthe songs all being presented here are all reactions to present day anxieties.\u201d<\/p>\n The new EP, which you can listen to here<\/a> arrived earlier today (February 18), on Ash Wednesday<\/a>, and fans can watch lyric videos for all the project\u2019s five tracks (plus a poem) here<\/a>. Alongside this, the band released a special issue of their magazine Propaganda<\/em>\u00a0featuring new interviews with band members and the EPs song lyrics.<\/p>\n In advance of a new album in 2026, the new project contains five songs titled \u2018American Obituary\u2019, \u2018The Tears Of Things\u2019, \u2018Song Of The Future\u2019, \u2018Wildpeace\u2019, \u2018One Life At A Time\u2019 and \u2018Yours Eternally\u2019 (which features Ed Sheeran<\/a> & Taras Topolia), which is described as \u201can immediate response to current events and inspired by the many extraordinary and courageous people fighting on the frontlines of freedom.\u201d<\/p>\n As per a press release, four of the five tracks \u201care about individuals \u2013 a mother, a father, a teenage girl \u2013 whose lives were brutally cut short. A soldier who\u2019d rather be singing but is ready to die for the freedom of his country.\u201d<\/p>\n Speaking about the new EP, Bono said in a statement: \u201cIt\u2019s been a thrill having the four of us back together in the studio over the last year\u2026 the songs on \u2018Days Of Ash\u2019 are very different in mood and theme to the ones we\u2019re going to put on our album later in the year.<\/p>\n \u201cThese EP tracks couldn\u2019t wait; these songs were impatient to be out in the world. They are songs of defiance and dismay, of lamentation. Songs of celebration will follow, we\u2019re working on those now\u2026 because for all the awfulness we see normalised daily on our small screens, there\u2019s nothing normal about these mad and maddening times and we need to stand up to them before we can go back to having faith in the future.
