Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos, who is leading the hunt for missing 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie, has delivered a blunt assessment of the investigation\u2019s status, declaring, \u201cIt\u2019s not cold.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
Journalist Liz Kreutz, reporting from Tucson, said around 400 investigators are pursuing leads and piecing together what happened, according to Sheriff Nanos.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
Despite the time that has passed, the sheriff stressed the inquiry is ongoing, with thousands of lines of inquiry still under review.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
Questions have surfaced after DNA testing produced no \u201chits\u201d following the FBI\u2019s CODIS review.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
Other avenues have also so far failed to produce clear results, including security footage from Nancy\u2019s property and separate video showing a person in a nearby area behaving suspiciously.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
Addressing the footage, Sheriff Nanos said, \u201cI believe somebody out there can look at that video and go, I know exactly who that is. And that\u2019s what our plea is to our community.\u201d He added, \u201cAs long as we have the ability to chase a lead, it\u2019s not cold.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
The sheriff emphasized that the volume of information still being examined shows the case remains active. Detectives are following up on any credible detail that could help locate Nancy and identify those responsible.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
The case has drawn widespread attention, not least because of Nancy\u2019s connection to her daughter Savannah, a familiar face to millions of Americans. Supporters have rallied behind the family, hoping for a breakthrough.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
In a social media post shared two days ago, Savannah addressed those responsible directly. \u201cAnd I wanted to say to whoever has her or knows where she is that it\u2019s never too late, and you\u2019re not lost or alone, and it is never too late to do the right thing,\u201d she said. \u201cWe are here and we believe, and we believe in the essential goodness of every human being, and it\u2019s never too late.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
So far, no proof of life has been provided despite repeated appeals. It is understood Nancy relies on heart medication that was left at her home on the day she was taken, raising further worries about her wellbeing. Investigators have received three ransom notes, with at least one being treated as credible by authorities.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
Officials insist their approach remains focused on detailed investigative work rather than speculation. \u201cWe\u2019re not going to give up. We\u2019re going to find Nancy, and we\u2019re going to find out who did this,\u201d Nanos said.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
