Sharing photos from the evening on Instagram, she explained the inspiration behind her pastel yellow couture gown by Gaurav Gupta, designed with a modern take on the traditional saree drape.

The design featured a pleated, pallu-style drape falling from one shoulder and flowing into a long train. Part of Gupta’s Divine Androgyne Spring/Summer 2026 couture collection, the ensemble also included a flowing fabric cover over her head like a cape.

Sharing photos from the evening on Instagram, Priyanka Chopra Jonas explained that the look was deeply connected to her character’s identity and strength. She wrote, “Wearing this is an ode to Ercell Bodden, my character in The Bluff. In the opening of the film she appears with a dupatta over her head, a subtle but meaningful marker of identity and strength.”

Opening up about her love for traditional silhouettes, she revealed how instantly she connected with the design. “I love a saree. And when I saw this piece walk down the couture runway last month, it felt like a saree with a modern twist. We immediately called Gaurav and asked him to hold it for me,” the actor wrote.

Priyanka spoke about the elegance and cultural resonance of the gown. “There’s a quiet power in its simplicity. The precision of the tailoring, the way it drapes and moves, felt both rooted and forward looking, and the bright yellow is so synonymous with the colorful palette of India,” she added.

Concluding on a note of pride for Indian couture, she reflected on fashion’s global journey. “To me, this piece is a testament to the growing global scope of Indian fashion and how beautifully our heritage continues to evolve,” she concluded.

Earlier at the film’s world premiere on February 17, Priyanka wore a structured brown gown built around a leather corset-style bodice, featuring a sculpted breastplate with visible panel detailing and buckle accents. The centre of the bodice carried an embossed design referencing her on-screen persona, Ercell “Bloody Mary” Bodden.

In another Instagram post, Priyanka Chopra Jonas looked back at how far she has come in Hollywood, calling the premiere especially meaningful. She wrote, “My first U.S. premiere was at the TCL Chinese Theatre. And it did NOT feel like this one. Being here with The Bluff, the first film I’ve produced and led in the US, feels poignant.

“Tonight’s look is deeply personal. The body of this dress, the cuirass (Armour), is the original Hero piece from Bloody Mary’s costume in the movie, designed by our brilliant costume designer Antoinette Messam, in collaboration with Australian artisans who hand made this over three months. As soon as I put it on while filming two years ago, I wondered how I could wear it for the premiere. There was so much thought, artistry and craft that went behind customising this piece to my body, and the incredible human talent that worked on the details, that I felt it needed a moment of their own,” she added.

Explaining the collaborative effort behind the final look, she added, “So with the Cuirass as the central focus, I worked with my very talented styling team of Wayman and Micah. We reached out to the designers of Who Decides War, known for their edgy and creative designs, and whose Caribbean heritage brought an added layer of representation to the dress.”

Reflecting on the deeper themes of the film, Priyanka shared why the story resonated with her personally. “To me, this movie is a much needed, fun pirate movie, but it’s set against the themes of colonialism and history, so it cut a little deep for me,” the actor wrote.

She also highlighted the symbolic arc of her character, writing, “In the story, this armor marks the moment my character transforms from the Prey to the Predator. Hunted to Hunter.”

Describing the detailing of the outfit, she concluded, “The skeleton mermaid motif draws from ancient maritime folklore about sirens that were apparently spotted in the sea, who were both beautiful and deadly. This becomes bloody Mary’s symbol.”

About The Bluff

Set in the late 1800s, The Bluff follows Bloody Mary, a feared former pirate queen attempting to leave her violent past behind on a remote Caribbean island. Her quiet life is disrupted when Captain Connor, played by Karl Urban, re-enters her world. Priyanka was joined on the red carpet by co-stars Ismael Cruz Córdova and Safia Oakley-Green.

The film will premiere on Prime Video on February 25. Meanwhile, Priyanka is also gearing up for her return to Indian cinema with SS Rajamouli’s upcoming film Varanasi, co-starring Mahesh Babu and Prithviraj Sukumaran, slated for a Sankranthi 2027 release.

– Ends

Published By:

Pritinanda Behera

Published On:

Feb 19, 2026

‘ The preceding article may include information circulated by third parties ’

‘ Some details of this article were extracted from the following source www.indiatoday.in ’

Priyanka Chopra Jonas lit up The Bluff world premiere after party in Los Angeles with a soft, romantic look that paid tribute to both her character and Indian fashion.
