I Tried Sonic’s New All-American Smash Burger<\/span> Amanda Mactas<\/span><\/p>\n<\/figcaption><\/div>\n<\/figure>\n Sonic has recently tapped big-name celebrities to promote its new burger and meal deal, including Bronwyn Newport, Pete Davidson, Tinx, and Lisa Rinna.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n With so much promo, I had to get my hands on the All-American Sonic Smasher, and it lives up to the hype.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n While trying the burger, I got to chat with Bronwyn about her go-to Dr Pepper combo and Sonic favorites.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n Don\u2019t judge me, but these days I\u2019m practically glued to my TV. Between all of the drama on Housewives<\/em> and the eye candy on Heated Rivalry<\/a>, <\/em>consider me sat. And since my day job requires me to eat all day, there\u2019s no better marriage for me than bringing my two loves\u2014food and celebrity<\/a>\u2014together. So when I started seeing all my favorite stars promoting Sonic\u2019s new All-American Smasher and Smasher Meal on my socials, my interest was piqued.<\/p>\n For a bit of background, Sonic<\/a> debuted a brand new burger and meal deal last month\u2014the All-American SONIC Smasher <\/strong>and the $6 All-American Smasher Meal<\/strong>. The new smash burger<\/a> is a riff on the chain\u2019s signature Smasher: two patties layered with American cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, pickles, and mayo, all on a potato bun. Plus, you have the option to add bacon. Perhaps best of all, the smash burgers are made to order, meaning they come out piping hot and fresh.<\/p>\n The meal deal, which is a pretty good steal if you ask me, comes with an All-American Sonic Smasher, your choice of either Medium Tots or Groovy Fries, and a medium soft drink or iced tea, all for $6.<\/p>\n For the past month, I\u2019ve been seeing everyone from Pete Davidson and Rob Rausch to Lisa Rinna and Robbie G.K. promoting both the meal deal and the new burger on Sonic\u2019s social feeds. Obviously, the marketing worked because I had to try it for myself.<\/p>\n Amanda Mactas<\/span><\/p>\n<\/figcaption><\/div>\n<\/figure>\n I started with the classic Smasher, which was definitely heavy on the brine. The pickles and onions were really the stars of the show, but overall, it was one tasty dish. The upgraded potato bun is also a nice touch.<\/p>\n Amanda Mactas<\/span><\/p>\n<\/figcaption><\/div>\n<\/figure>\n The All-American version tasted more like your everyday backyard BBQ burger. Like the classic Smasher, the burger\u2019s crispy edges stood out to me, but none of the toppings overshadowed the others\u2014each ingredient worked well together to provide a well-rounded result. That said, it is quite hefty with 35 grams of protein (add bacon and you\u2019ll up it to 52 grams!), so if you\u2019re trying it as part of the Smasher meal (do it, the tots are chef\u2019s kiss), you might even want to share it.<\/p>\n Amidst bites, I got to chat with another one of my favorite celebrities, Bronwyn Newport of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City<\/em><\/a>, <\/em>who was on-site as Sonic\u2019s spokeswoman for the night. She famously loves ordering up Sonic\u2019s Dr Pepper with pickles<\/a>, but also enjoys doctoring up her soda with cherry and vanilla syrup, too. \u201cIt depends on whether I wake up and choose violence or happiness. Cherry is happy Bronwyn, and pickle is spicy or salty Bronwyn,\u201d she exclusively shared with me. \u201cIf you see me with a pickle Dr Pepper<\/a>, today is not the day to try me.\u201d<\/p>\n Her go-to Sonic<\/a> order has changed in recent years\u2014she always snags a DP (when she opts for the cherry-and-vanilla version, she also has them include maraschino cherries, to no one\u2019s surprise)\u2014and used to pair it with tater tots and mozzarella sticks. However, now that the All-American is out, it\u2019s her new fave. \u201cI was not a big burger<\/a> lover before, but this has kind of changed my life,\u201d she said.
