James Cameron<\/a> is going to bat for Paramount<\/a> in the bidding war for Warner Bros. Discovery<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In a letter sent to Sen. Mike Lee<\/a> (R-Utah), Cameron argues that allowing Netflix<\/a> to purchase the studio will deal a disastrous blow to movie theaters and weaken an essential cog of the Hollywood machinery in a way that will lead to substantial job losses.<\/p>\n

The letter, dated Feb. 10, amplifies concerns from lawmakers and the Justice Department that the potential sale will result in fewer films being released in theaters. While the government\u2019s main focus has been Netflix\u2019s dominance in streaming, it\u2019s also pressed Netflix on what will happen to Warner Bros.<\/a> movies if it were to acquire the company.<\/p>\n

Cameron nods to prior remarks from Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos<\/a> calling movie theaters an \u201coutdated concept\u201d and an \u201coutmoded idea.\u201d<\/p>\n
