{"id":2291390,"date":"2026-02-20T18:25:17","date_gmt":"2026-02-20T18:25:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/celebrity.land\/en\/?p=2291390"},"modified":"2026-02-20T18:25:17","modified_gmt":"2026-02-20T18:25:17","slug":"moves-to-take-andrew-mountbatten-windsor-out-of-succession","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/celebrity.land\/en\/moves-to-take-andrew-mountbatten-windsor-out-of-succession\/","title":{"rendered":"Moves to take Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor out of succession"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor could be removed from the line of<br \/>\nsuccession.<\/p>\n<p>The government has said it is thinking of bringing in<br \/>\nlegislation that would take the former prince out of the<br \/>\nsuccession<\/p>\n<p>He is currently eighth in line.<\/p>\n<p>The move would need agreement of all the realms where Charles<br \/>\nIII is Monarch..<\/p>\n<p>However, the government is only thought to be considering the<br \/>\nmove after the police investigation into Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor<br \/>\nis over.<\/p>\n<p>The BBC reported that the move has been discussed and said it<br \/>\nwas unlikely it could happen without the backing of The King.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier in the day, the leader of the Liberal Democrats, Sir Ed<br \/>\nDavey, said that Andrew\u2019s place in the succession should be under<br \/>\nconsidieration.<\/p>\n<p>And the shadow Secretary for Scotland, Andrew Bowie, said Andrew<br \/>\nMountbatten-Windsor should voluntarily relinquish his place in the<br \/>\nsuccession.<\/p>\n<p>It followed the shock arrest of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor by<br \/>\nThames Valley Police looking into allegations of misconduct in a<br \/>\npublic office.<\/p>\n<p>The police arrived at Andrew\u2019s home on the Sandringham estate<br \/>\njust after 8am on February 19, the former prince\u2019s 66th<br \/>\nbirthday.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Mountbatten-Windsor was taken into custody and remained there<br \/>\nfor 11 hours when he was released under investigation.<\/p>\n<p>Properties in Berkshire and Norfolk were also searched by<br \/>\nofficers. It\u2019s believed the properties were Royal Lodge on the<br \/>\nWindsor estate and Wood Farm on the Sandringham estate.
