\n\tPeople were already pretty sure that Hilary Duff<\/a>\u2018s new song \u201cWe Don\u2019t Talk\u201d was about a falling out with her sister, Haylie, but in a Friday (Feb. 20) interview with CBS Mornings <\/em>on the day of her album Luck \u2026 or Something<\/em>\u2018s release, the singer-actress laid any remaining doubts to rest.<\/p>\n \n\tWhen correspondent Anthony Mason asked whether \u201cWe Don\u2019t Talk\u201d is about her rift with her older sister, Hilary didn\u2019t beat around the bush. \u201cYeah, it is,\u201d she said, nodding pensively. \u201cIt\u2019s definitely about my sister, and just \u2014 absolutely the most lonely part of my existence is not having my sister in my life at the moment.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tThe Lizzie McGuire <\/em>alum went on to say that she \u201creally struggled\u201d with whether to include the revealing track on the record, but decided to do so after realizing that \u201cso many people\u201d have had similar fallings-out with siblings. \u201cIt\u2019s my truth,\u201d Hilary explained. \u201cIt was honestly healing to say. It\u2019s hard to watch your life unfold on the internet sometimes with talking heads on TikTok speculating \u2026 sometimes they\u2019re wrong, and sometimes they\u2019re right. All of that is a crazy thing to process.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cWe Don\u2019t Talk\u201d is one of 11 tracks on Hilary\u2019s first album in a decade. On the song, she sings lyrics such as \u201cWe come from the same home, the same blood\u201d and wonders if Haylie doesn\u2019t speak to her anymore out of envy. \u201cIf it\u2019s \u2019cause you\u2019re jealous\/ God knows I would sell it all, then break you off the bigger half,\u201d she laments.<\/p>\n \n\tHilary looked dismayed when discussing whether she hopes Haylie will hear the song. \u201cI don\u2019t think that that would help,\u201d she said. \u201cI think I have to just exist as a person on my own and do what I want to do. I hope that for everyone that is where I\u2019m sitting, you have to do what you want to do.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cIt\u2019s taken me a lot of time to get there and to live that way and to not care what the noise is gonna be around it and just be me,\u201d she added on the morning show. \u201cI don\u2019t know if she\u2019ll hear it, I don\u2019t know how she\u2019ll react to it. It is a really personal part of my life that doesn\u2019t get to stay personal, so I might as well say how it is for me as an experience.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tAs a former child star, Hilary\u2019s personal life has been publicly scrutinized for most of her life. On another Luck \u2026 or Something <\/em>song called \u201cThe Optimist,\u201d she seemingly touches<\/a> on issues with parents Robert and Susan, who welcomed Haylie in 1985 followed by the How I Met Your Father <\/em>actress two years later.<\/p>\n \n\tBut Hilary\u2019s relationship with Haylie specifically has been more speculated upon in recent months after Ashley Tisdale published an op-ed about leaving a \u201ctoxic\u201d mom group<\/a>, of which the internet believes Hilary was a member.
