Despite its unceremonious cancellation last summer, The Last Ronin<\/a> may not be condemned to the depths of New York City’s sewer system forever. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles<\/a> co-creator Kevin Eastman<\/a> recently offered a shockingly optimistic update surrounding the shelved, R-rated take on the beloved IP, revealing that the gritty comic adaptation isn’t scrapped, but rather “just delayed.”<\/p>\n

“I don’t think the movie’s off the table,” Eastman<\/a> recently told Entertainment Weekly<\/a> of The Last Ronin<\/a> while announcing a comic prequel to Training Day<\/a>. Eastman, who created Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles<\/a> with comic book writer Peter Laird<\/a> in 1984, didn’t reach this chipper conclusion out of nowhere, citing conversations with higher-ups at Paramount Skydance<\/a>.<\/p>\n
