Plans for a reboot of the iconic American Psycho<\/i> have hit a significant roadblock.<\/p>\n
The 1991 novel, written by Bret Easton Ellis, was adapted into a movie in 2000 starring Christian Bale and is being rebooted once again.<\/p>\n
Bret has given an update that suggests history may be repeating itself.<\/p>\n
After the reboot was announced in 2024, the cast is yet to be announced as Bret has said that leading Hollywood stars continue to turn down the role.<\/p>\n
He spoke about the reboot plans on the latest episode of his self-titled audio show, The Bret Easton Ellis <\/i>Podcast.<\/p>\n
\u201cA couple of high profile actors, whom I can\u2019t name, have turned it down,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Similar to Christian\u2019s casting at the time, many leading stars turned down the role.<\/p>\n
Bret added \u201cI think maybe because they don\u2019t want to be in the shoes of Christian Bale.\u201d<\/p>\n
The author also revealed that screenwriter Scott Z. Burns has drafted a new version of the film\u2019s script.<\/p>\n
As compared to the 2000 film, Bret said the new reboot \u201cis completely different\u201d.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
