Lincoln Ave., in the Dunning Gallery.<\/p>\n<p>The prints capture both the myth and the reality of Leadville\u2019s mid-1800s gold-rush beginnings. After the 1859 discoveries in California Gulch, the settlement rapidly transformed from a hardscrabble mining camp into \u00a0one of Colorado\u2019s fastest-growing industrial cities.<\/p>\n<p>The collection reveals both the romance and the grit behind the rush, and how mining, migration, and ambition shaped one of Colorado\u2019s most storied communities.
