Original Grey\u2019s Anatomy<\/em><\/a> castmember T.R. Knight<\/strong><\/a> is reacting to the untimely death<\/a> of his fellow costar, Eric Dane<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cEric, your generosity and humor will always be a guide, your courage and honesty, a beacon,\u201d Knight, 52, wrote via Instagram<\/a> on Saturday, February 21, alongside a photo of the former Shondaland stars. In the pic, Knight can be seen fixing Dane\u2019s bowtie while the late actor smiles.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy heart is a part of the vast circle that surrounds you and loves you,\u201d Knight continued in the caption.<\/p>\n

Us Weekly<\/em> confirmed on Thursday, February 19, that the former Euphoria<\/em> star died<\/a> after a battle with ALS<\/a>. He was 53.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith heavy hearts, we share that Eric Dane passed on Thursday afternoon following a courageous battle with ALS,\u201d a statement from Dane\u2019s family read at the time. \u201cHe spent his final days surrounded by dear friends, his devoted wife, and his two beautiful daughters, Billie and Georgia, who were the center of his world.\u201d (Dane shared his two children with his wife, Rebecca Gayheart.<\/strong><\/a>)<\/p>\n

The statement continued, \u201cThroughout his journey with ALS, Eric became a passionate advocate for awareness and research, determined to make a difference for others facing the same fight. He will be deeply missed, and lovingly remembered always. Eric adored his fans and is forever grateful for the outpouring of love and support he\u2019s received. The family has asked for privacy as they navigate this impossible time.\u201d<\/p>\n

Knight, who played George O\u2019Malley on the hit ABC drama from its inaugural 2005 season to 2009, is just one of many of Dane\u2019s former Grey\u2019s Anatomy<\/em> castmates to offer their love and condolences in the wake of his death. (Dane joined the show in February 2006 as Dr. Mark Sloan. The actor died on the 20th anniversary of his first appearance<\/a> on the program.)<\/p>\n

\u201cThe last 48 hours have been devastating,\u201d Chyler Leigh<\/strong><\/a>, who played Dane\u2019s love interest Lexi on Grey\u2019s Anatomy<\/em>, told E!
