Rebecca Gayheart<\/strong><\/a> broke her silence on husband Eric Dane<\/strong><\/a>\u2019s death following his battle with ALS.<\/p>\n

Gayheart, 54, shared multiple throwback family photos with Dane and their two daughters via her Instagram Stories on Saturday, February 21, in addition to a link endorsing a GoFundMe campaign<\/a> meant to financially support their kids in the wake of the late actor\u2019s untimely death.<\/p>\n

\u201cThank you to everyone,\u201d she wrote next to a screenshot of the fundraiser.<\/p>\n

Us Weekly<\/em> confirmed Dane\u2019s death at age 53 on Thursday, February 19.<\/p>\n

The message continued, \u201cHe will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered always. Eric adored his fans and is forever grateful for the outpouring of love and support he\u2019s received. The family has asked for privacy as they navigate this impossible time.\u201d<\/p>\n

HBO also shared a statement<\/a> mourning the actor, who starred as Cal Jacobs on Euphoria<\/em>. \u201cWe are deeply saddened by the news of Eric Dane\u2019s passing<\/a>,\u201d a spokesperson said. \u201cHe was incredibly talented and HBO was fortunate to have worked with him on three seasons of Euphoria<\/em>. Our thoughts are with his loved ones during this difficult time.\u201d<\/p>\n

Weeks before his death, Dane was expected to attend<\/a> the ALS Network\u2019s Champions for Cures and Care Gala on January 24 to accept his Advocate of the Year Award, but the organization revealed that \u201cdue to the physical realities of ALS, he [was] not well enough to attend.\u201d<\/p>\n

Gayheart shared two daughters with Dane, whom she married in 2004. The pair separated in 2018, but Gayheart eventually withdrew her divorce petition in 2025. Later that year, she opened up about Dane\u2019s diagnosis in an article for New York Magazine<\/em>\u2018s The Cut<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\u201cHis symptoms started maybe a year prior. When we would have a meal with the kids, he\u2019d say things like, \u2018Something\u2019s wrong with my hand.\u2019 He was struggling to use his chopsticks, dropping his food. That was when he started seeing doctors,\u201d Gayheart recalled in December 2025.<\/p>\n

She continued, \u201cWhen he told me that day, he just started weeping, as did I. It didn\u2019t feel real because he was still OK.\u201d A week later, she and Dane told their daughters Billie, 15, and Georgia, 14, about his diagnosis.<\/p>\n

Dane eventually went public with his health battle in April 2025. Gayheart, meanwhile, called ALS a \u201cterrible disease.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cNo matter how prepared you are, or how much I prepare the girls, or how much Eric prepares himself, he\u2019ll wake up one morning and there\u2019s something else that is an obstacle, or he\u2019s lost the ability to do one more thing \u2014 it just comes out of nowhere,\u201d she wrote. \u201cIt\u2019s a terrible, terrible disease.\u201d<\/p>\n
