Former The Vampire Diaries <\/i>costars Arielle Kebbel<\/strong><\/a> and Zach Roerig<\/strong><\/a> have called it quits.<\/p>\n

\u201cI haven\u2019t been in a relationship in quite some time,\u201d Kebbel, 41, revealed on the Thursday, February 19, episode on the \u201cOff the Vine\u201d podcast<\/a> before host Kaitlyn Bristowe<\/strong> jokingly offered her congratulations for the actress\u2019 single status.<\/p>\n

The actress continued, <\/i>\u201cI feel like that\u2019s a very vulnerable and important conversation you just brought up because I\u2019ve had this conversation with my girlfriends going through either a breakup or a divorce. Some [you should say] \u2018I\u2019m sorry\u2019 because there is so much love and grief there, and others are \u2018congratulations\u2019 because it\u2019s the hardest best thing you could do for yourself. I actually do understand both.\u201d<\/p>\n

For Kebbel, she hinted that her breakup<\/a> was \u201cone of the hardest things\u201d that she\u2019s ever done.<\/p>\n

\u201cNow I\u2019m in a place of, like, really leaning into my own life choices,\u201d she said. \u201cI feel, like, probably for the first time in my life it is in this raw way \u2014 like raw. Yes, the feel-good moments but wasn\u2019t really ready \u2026 and [to] get to know myself in a way that what it\u2019s taught me now is the gratitude of what I\u2019ve learned and also what do I need to explore to completely change patterns for myself in the future for my heart, for my soul [and] for what I want moving forward?\u201d<\/p>\n

According to the actress, she hadn\u2019t \u201creally [been] able to be that honest\u201d with herself about her mindset prior to her breakup.<\/p>\n

\u201cI live so much of my life with so much responsibility, I had to \u2014 for a second \u2014 do all the things I was too afraid to do or [was] too controlled to do before,\u201d Kebbel said. \u201cAll of a sudden, I turned 40 and was, like, \u2018I don\u2019t know what\u2019s happening in me but there is a deep hole to truth that I can\u2019t deny and I also can\u2019t play pretend with anymore.\u2019 I couldn\u2019t have told you this six months ago. It\u2019s an evolving thing where \u2026 it\u2019s a different feeling for sure.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kebbel and Roerig, 41, broke the news at an April 2025 fan convention<\/a> that they were officially an item. Roerig, who played Matt, even surprised Kebbel (a.k.a. Lexi on the franchise) with flowers and gave her a sweet kiss in front of the crowd.<\/p>\n

\u201cI love a couple\u00a0 \u2764\ufe0f<\/span> The ultimate romantic,\u201d a fan captioned footage of the romantic debut via Instagram, to which Kebbel replied with three heart emojis.<\/p>\n

While it\u2019s not known how Kebbel and Roerig reconnected, they costarred in the 2023 Hallmark movie Love in the Great Smoky Mountains: A National Park Romance<\/i>. Roerig has not yet publicly addressed the pair\u2019s breakup.<\/p>\n
