Canine characters have been stealing the show on the big and small screens for years. From daring dogs<\/a> like Rin Tin Tin to the silly antics of Mickey Mouse’s pal Pluto, our four-legged friends continue to make us laugh and shed heartwarming tears whenever they’re a part of the story.<\/p>\n This precious pooch<\/a> starred in a television show, live-action series, and graced the silver screen. Recently topping the list of “Best TV and Film Dogs of All Time”, he lives on in syndication and streaming services, cracking cases and capturing hearts of all ages.<\/p>\n In a recent list from The Times<\/a><\/em> that ranked TV and film’s best fur babies, none other than dog detective Scooby-Doo placed first. The animated Great Dane<\/a> is known for his adventures with pals Shaggy, Fred, Daphne, Velma, and his nephew, Scrappy-Doo, as they travel in the iconic Mystery Machine van solving cases.<\/p>\n Though he scares easily, Scooby-Doo always has the best intentions and tries to be brave. Loyal to the core, the quirky pooch can speak English \u2014 sort of \u2014 by starting every word with the letter ‘R’. Scooby-Doo possesses some odd special powers like shape-shifting, dancing, and having an incredible sense of balance.<\/p>\n This cartoon character warmed the hearts of millions and evolved to launch films, multiple TV shows, and a live-action series. Scooby-Doo continues to entertain kids and even adults to this day.<\/p>\n Coming in at #2 on the list is Lassie, the iconic Collie<\/a> who hit the big screen opposite Elizabeth Taylor in the 1943 classic, Lassie Come Home. <\/em>The darling dog went on to star in her own TV show from 1954 to 1973.<\/p>\n Tiny Toto from The Wizard of Oz<\/em> ranked third and truly stole millions of hearts as he traveled the Yellow Brick Road with Dorothy. The little pooch was played by a dog named Terry, who earned a salary of $125 a week for the role.
