Audrey Hepburn\u2019s classic, Breakfast at Tiffany\u2019s, is getting an update in 2026\u2014and a brand new starlet will bring the story to life.<\/p>\n

Variety<\/a> reported that the yet-to-be-titled film will not be an exact retelling of the 1961 film, but will rather go behind-the-scenes and delve into the making of the iconic movie, which has inspired generations of actors and filmmakers in the years since its release.<\/p>\n

What will the film be about?<\/h2>\n

According to Variety, the new film is directly based on the Sam Wasson book, Fifth Avenue, 5 A.M.: Audrey Hepburn, Breakfast at Tiffany\u2019s and the Dawn of the Modern Woman.<\/p>\n

The book, released in 2010<\/a>, is \u201cthe first ever complete account of the making of Breakfast at Tiffany\u2019s. With a cast of characters including Truman Capote, Edith Head, director Blake Edwards, and, of course, Hepburn herself, Wasson immerses us in the America of the late fifties, before Woodstock and birth control, when a not-so-virginal girl by the name of Holly Golightly raised eyebrows across the nation, changing fashion, film, and sex, for good.\u201d<\/p>\n

Fans of the movie can expect the forthcoming movie to transport them from \u201cthe Upper East Side to the pools of Beverly Hills presenting Breakfast at Tiffany\u2019s as we have never seen it before\u2014through the eyes of those who made it,\u201d the book\u2019s synopsis reads.<\/p>\n

Who is in the cast?<\/h2>\n

Lily Collins (Emily in Paris) will star in the movie, Variety confirmed in the February 2026 announcement of the project.<\/p>\n

On February 23, Collins shared a post on Instagram with her reaction to the news. \u201cIt’s with almost 10 years of development and a lifetime of admiration and adoration for Audrey that I\u2019m finally able share this. Honored and ecstatic don\u2019t begin to express how I feel\u2026\u201d she wrote, sharing a picture of Hepburn dressed in the black shift dress and matching opera gloves that are now synonymous with the film.<\/p>\n

Who is directing and producing?<\/h2>\n

A director has not been set yet for the movie, but Collins will pull double duty\u2014in addition to starring, she will also serve as a producer for the film. Alena Smith (Dickinson) will write the script.<\/p>\n
