Oscar-winner Tom Hanks<\/a> is set to portray President Abraham Lincoln in the upcoming film adaptation of \u201cLincoln in the Bardo<\/a>\u201d from Starburns Industries<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In addition to starring as the 16th U.S. President, Hanks will also produce the project, based on George Saunders\u2019 bestselling novel, via his Playtone<\/a> label with partner Gary Goetzman<\/a>. Saunders is adapting the novel with Oscar-nominated filmmaker Duke Johnson<\/a> (\u201cAnomalisa<\/a>\u201d) set to direct and produce.<\/p>\n

This is far from Hanks\u2019 first time portraying a real-life figure, with his filmography ranging from astronaut Jim Lovel<\/a> (\u201cApollo 13<\/a>\u201d) to hero pilot Chesley \u2018Sully\u2019 Sullenberger<\/a> (\u201cSully<\/a>\u201d), as well as Washington Post editor Ben Bradlee<\/a> (\u201cThe Post<\/a>\u201d), Fred Rodgers<\/a> (\u201cA Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood<\/a>\u201d) and Walt Disney (\u201cSaving Mr. Banks<\/a>\u201d), but it is the actor\u2019s first time portraying a U.S. President.
