The hunt for the truth out there is back on. Ryan Coogler<\/a>\u2019s long-gestating The X-Files reboot has received a pilot greenlight at Hulu<\/a>. Danielle Deadwyler<\/a> (The Piano Lesson) is set as the co-lead in the project, from Onyx Collective<\/a> and 20th Television<\/a>. Jennifer Yale<\/a> (The Copenhagen Test<\/a>) has come on board as showrunner, Deadline can reveal exclusively.<\/p>\n

Sinners<\/a> filmmaker Coogler is writing and directing the pilot for the new X-Files. In it, two highly decorated but vastly different FBI agents \u2014 one played by Deadwyler \u2014 form an unlikely bond when they are assigned to a long-shuttered division devoted to cases involving unexplained phenomena.<\/p>\n

Yale<\/a> executive produces alongside The X-Files<\/a> creator Chris Carter<\/a> as well as Coogler, Sev Ohanian<\/a> and Zinzi Coogler<\/a> of Proximity Media<\/a>. The company\u2019s Simone Harris<\/a> is a co-executive producer. The pilot is being cast by Sinners<\/a> casting director Francine Maisler<\/a>.<\/p>\n
