Royal fans have been left confused after they spotted Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor being referred to as “Prince Andrew” on the Royal Family’s website. The error was discovered under the ‘Current Counsellors of State’ section of the website. Counsellors of State are authorised to carry out most of the official duties of the Sovereign, for example, attending Privy Council meetings, signing routine documents and receiving the credentials of new ambassadors to the United Kingdom.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
However, ‘Prince Andrew<\/a>‘ is currently listed<\/a> under the ‘Current Counsellors of State’ section on the website. The list, in the order stated on the website, reads: “The current Counsellors of State are The Queen, The Prince of Wales, The Princess Royal, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Duke of Sussex<\/a>, Prince Andrew and Princess Beatrice<\/a>. In practice, only working Members of the Royal Family are called upon to act as Counsellors of State.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Fans have taken to social media to air their confusion. One fan wrote: “The Palace website updates at the speed of an arthritic snail”, whereas another stated, “Give them a chance to get things done”.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Another simply wrote: “Poor. Facts are very important right now.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Royal reporter, Chris Ship, wrote: “I\u2019m sure the Palace has lots of things to update, but on their page which explains who are the Counsellors of State (those who can stand in for the King in his absence), http:\/\/royal.uk still has Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor listed as *Prince* Andrew.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Andrew was arrested on Thursday<\/a> last week on suspicion of misconduct in public office and released under investigation 11 hours later. Searches at his former Windsor home, Royal Lodge, are continuing.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Calls have been growing in recent days for the King’s brother to be removed from the line of succession.
