Nick Reiner<\/strong> was seen in court during his arraignment in connection to the deaths of his parents, Rob Reiner<\/strong><\/a> and Michele Singer Reiner<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

Nick, 32, appeared in a Los Angeles courtroom on Monday, February 23, for the proceedings.\u00a0Us Weekly\u00a0<\/em>can confirm that Nick was wearing a brown jumpsuit and still sporting a shaved head with facial hair. He smiled briefly he was approached by his lawyer approached him.<\/p>\n

He pleaded not guilty<\/a> to the murder of his parents and waived his right to a speedy trial during the hearing. He will not be released on bail and Nick\u2019s next court date is set for April 29 for another preliminary hearing. Nick briefly spoke during the hearing, telling the judge, \u201cyes,\u201d at one point.<\/p>\n

Nick was charged with two counts of first-degree murder with special circumstances after Rob and Michele were found dead in their California home on December 14, 2025. The director was 78, while his producer wife was 70. Nick faces life in prison<\/a> without the possibility of parole or the death penalty if convicted.<\/p>\n

TMZ reported at the time that the Los Angeles Fire Department had been called to the scene in the afternoon to administer \u201cmedical aid.\u201d It was later reported that a 78-year-old man and 70-year-old woman had been [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

According to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner, Rob and Michele\u2019s cause of death<\/a> was determined to be \u201cmultiple sharp force injuries.\u201d<\/p>\n

Days after his parents\u2019 deaths, Nick appeared in court for the first time on December 17, 2025, wearing a suicide prevention vest. His then-lawyer, Alan Jackson<\/strong>, claimed it was \u201ctoo early\u201d at the time for Nick to enter a plea.<\/p>\n

During the hearing, Nick spoke briefly<\/a> to the judge, who asked him whether he was sure he wanted to waive his right to a fast arraignment. \u201cYes, your honor,\u201d he replied.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tBefore Nick Reiner was arrested in connection to his parents Rob Reiner and Michele Singer Reiner\u2019s deaths, their son had been candid about how addiction contributed to their complicated relationship over the years. Rob and Michele, who wed in 1989, shared three children: Jake, Nick and Romy. (Rob also adopted ex-wife Penny Marshall\u2018s daughter, Tracy.) [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The following month, Nick returned to the courtroom<\/a> on January 7 with a newly shaved head. Wearing a khaki jumpsuit and handcuffs, he reportedly appeared to be on the verge of tears amid the proceedings.<\/p>\n

Nick\u2019s arraignment was ultimately postponed at the time, after Jackson announced he was stepping away from the case<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cCircumstances beyond our control, but more importantly, circumstances beyond Nick\u2019s control, have dictated that, sadly, it\u2019s made it impossible for us to continue our representation of Nick,\u201d Jackson told reporters. \u201cI\u2019m legally and I\u2019m ethically prohibited from explaining all the reasons why, I know that\u2019s a question on everyone\u2019s mind.\u201d<\/p>\n

Jackson added that he and his team remained \u201cdeeply committed\u201d to Nick and his \u201cbest interests\u201d despite no longer representing him.<\/p>\n
