After Ball’s career on the hardwood stalled out, he’s finding much better luck on the mic. His “Tweaker” single attained<\/a> platinum status last fall and peaked at No. 29 on the Billboard Hot 100.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

“I always told myself I would be great at something, even if the hoops don’t work,” Ball told Billboard<\/em>‘s Michael Saponara<\/a>. “I just never knew it would be rap, and I just ran with it.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Becoming a recording artist has become a lucrative pursuit for the 27-year-old. Thanks in part to the early success of “Tweaker,” he signed a deal with Def Jam and Universal Music Group that’s reportedly worth<\/a> up to $13 million.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
