King Harald of Norway has been taken to hospital while on
\nholiday.<\/p>\n
Harald V, who just turned 89, was admitted to the University
\nHospital in Tenerife.<\/p>\n
Norway\u2019s royals announced that the king was being treated for an
\ninfection and dehydration.<\/p>\n
The statement said he is \u201dreportedly\u201d doing well.<\/p>\n
The admission to hospital comes at a troubling time for Norway\u2019s
\nroyals. The family is under scrutiny after the Epstein files
\nrevealed that the Crown Princess, Mette-Marit, had had a long
\nfriendship with the convicted sex offender and even stayed at his
\nhouse.<\/p>\n
A string of emails have emerged showing links between the two
\nwith one indicating that the wife of the heir to the throne skipped
\na major international event, a celebration for the beginning of the
\nreign of the King of the Netherlands, to spend time with
\nEpstein.<\/p>\n
The revelations came just as Mette-Marit\u2019s so from a previous
\nrelationship, Marius Borg Hoiby, went on trial in Oslo for a number
\nof offences including counts of rape which he denies.<\/p>\n
King Harald remains the most popular member of Norway\u2019s royal
\nfamily and is seen as a strong constitutional monarch. He has
\nreigned since 1991, succeeding his equally popular father, King
\nOlav V, who was voted the Norwegian of the century in 1999.<\/p>\n
King Harald recently turned 89 and marked the occasion with a
\nsymbolic portrait showing him with his heir, Crown Prince Haakon,
\nand his eldest child and second in line to the throne, Princess
\nIngrid Alexandra.<\/p>\n
