Robert Carradine\u2019s former co-stars are paying tribute to the actor following his death at the age of 71.<\/p>\n
Carradine was known for his roles in \u201cLizzie McGuire,\u201d \u201cRevenge of the Nerds\u201d and \u201cEscape from L.A.,\u201d among others.<\/p>\n
Carradine\u2019s manager and brother, Keith Carradine, confirmed his death in a statement to NBC News.<\/p>\n
The statement said Carradine \u201csuccumbed to\u201d bipolar disorder after navigating the condition for nearly 20 years.<\/p>\n
Hilary Duff, who played Carradine\u2019s daughter on \u201cLizzie McGuire,\u201d shared two photos with the actor and paid tribute to him in an Instagram post.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis one hurts. It\u2019s really hard to face this reality about an old friend. There was so much warmth in the McGuire family and I always felt so cared for by my on-screen parents. I\u2019ll be forever grateful for that. I\u2019m deeply sad to learn Bobby was suffering. My heart aches for him , his family, and everyone who loved him. \ud83d\udc94,\u201d she wrote.<\/p>\n
Jake Thomas, Carradine\u2019s on-air son in \u201cLizzie McGuire,\u201d also honored his former co-star in an Instagram tribute.<\/p>\n
\u201cMy heart hurts today. I was fortunate to know Bobby for most my life. And he was one of the coolest guys you could ever meet. Funny, pragmatic, sometimes cranky, always a little eccentric,\u201d he wrote.<\/p>\n
Thomas called Carradine a member of his \u201cfamily\u201d and said he has \u201cmany fond memories being with him and his family\u201d throughout his life.<\/p>\n
\u201cGood moments, challenging moments, and lots of laughs between. I looked up to him growing up. And later in life, I came to realize he thought I was pretty neat, too. So I guess I was doing something right in his eyes,\u201d he wrote.<\/p>\n
Thomas ended his post with the following message: \u201cRest easy, Bobby. Love you. \u2014 \u2018Jaker.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n
Carradine\u2019s daughter, actor Ever Carradine, reflected on the loss of her father in an Instagram post.<\/p>\n
\u201cMy dad died today. My sweet, funny dad, who\u2019s only 20 years older than I am, who never missed an opportunity to drive me to the airport or tell me how much he loved my homemade salad dressing, is gone. If you knew my dad, you know he\u2019s the guy that\u2019s always there. Invite him to dinner? He\u2019s in. Kid\u2019s Little League game in Simi Valley, just tell him what time,\u201d she wrote.<\/p>\n
The \u201cHandmaid\u2019s Tale\u201d star continued her tribute and described how Carradine was a single father when he was raising her in the \u201870s and \u201880s.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhenever anyone asks me how I turned out so normal, I always tell them it\u2019s because of my dad. I knew my dad loved me, I knew it deep in my bones, and I always knew he had my back. I think it\u2019s partly because we basically grew up together. Twenty years age difference really isn\u2019t that much, and while I never ever thought of him as a sibling, I did always think of him as my partner,\u201d she wrote.<\/p>\n
The actor also underlined something “foundational” she learned from her father: “What a waste of time it is to hold a grudge.”<\/p>\n
\u201cMy dad was a lover, not a fighter. He was all heart, and in a world so full of conflict and division, I think we can all take a page out of his book today, open our hearts and feel and share the love,\u201d she wrote.<\/p>\n
Actor Martha Plimpton, who is Keith Carradine’s daughter, also posted a tribute<\/a> to her uncle.<\/p>\n \u201cMy Uncle Bobby was the best one of all 8 brothers; blood, adopted, and step. Out of all of them, he was the absolute best,” she began her tribute.<\/p>\n “He\u2019s honestly, in fact, the best actor of all of them. And I think I know why. Because he was KIND. He had inherent KINDNESS in him. He was dear, and loving, and nonjudgmental. And he loved honestly. He made mistakes like anyone else, like any human. But he never lost his decency, or his heart.
