Sarah Drew<\/strong><\/a> broke her silence after she faced backlash for promoting a new show in the wake of former Grey\u2019s Anatomy<\/em><\/a> costar Eric Dane<\/strong><\/a>\u2018s death.<\/p>\n

Drew, 45, took to Instagram on Friday, February 20, to celebrate season 3 of her Hallmark series Mistletoe Murders<\/em><\/a> being renewed, writing, \u201cMerry merry MISTLETOE MURDERS SEASON 3 babyyyyyyy!!! CANNOT WAIT!!!\u201d<\/p>\n

A social media user took to the comments section to accuse Drew of being \u201ctone deaf,\u201d to which she replied, \u201cI imagine this comment is in reference to the news about Eric Dane, or the fall of our democracy, or people getting kidnapped and killed in the streets, or the atrocities of the Epstein files, or the deeply corrupt administration we are living under \u2014 or any of the other truly heartbreaking things that are happening at the same time \u2014 all the time.\u201d<\/p>\n

Drew stood by her decision to celebrate a personal accomplishment.<\/p>\n

The actor\u2019s family confirmed on Thursday, February 19, that Dane died following a battle with ALS. \u201cHe spent his final days surrounded by dear friends, his devoted wife and his two beautiful daughters, Billie [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cI just want to encourage you- that many things can be true at the same time. I can grieve one thing and celebrate another. I can work and I can mother,\u201d she continued. \u201cI\u2019d ask you to offer a little bit of grace. We have to find our joy where it comes because joy is resistance. And this show and this community brings me so much joy, so I will celebrate that\u2026 while also grieving all of the other things I\u2019ve mentioned.\u201d<\/p>\n

One day before Mistletoe Murders<\/em>\u2018 renewal, Drew honored Dane after he died<\/a> at age 53. \u201cHeartbroken for this tremendous loss,\u201d she wrote via social media. \u201cEric was an incredible presence as an actor and as a human and he will be profoundly missed.\u201d<\/p>\n

News broke on Thursday, February 19, that Dane died after a battle with ALS, which is a nervous system disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord and has no cure.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe spent his final days surrounded by dear friends, his devoted wife, and his two beautiful daughters, Billie and Georgia, who were the center of his world,\u201d read a statement from Dane\u2019s loved ones. \u201cThroughout his journey with ALS, Eric became a passionate advocate for awareness and research, determined to make a difference for others facing the same fight. He will be deeply missed, and lovingly remembered always.\u201d<\/p>\n

The statement concluded: \u201cEric adored his fans and is forever grateful for the outpouring of love and support he\u2019s received. The family has asked for privacy as they navigate this impossible time.\u201d<\/p>\n
