Elle Fanning<\/a> swears she wasn\u2019t expecting an Oscar nomination for her work in Neon\u2019s Sentimental Value. It\u2019s a line actors have repeated frequently on the awards circuit; however, in Fanning\u2019s case, it appears to ring true \u2014 best evidenced by her plans the night before and during the nominations announcement Jan. 22.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was not watching it,\u201d Fanning candidly tells The Hollywood Reporter<\/a>, admitting that she had talked herself out of thinking she would get nominated. She and her sister, actress Dakota Fanning<\/a>, were both at their mom\u2019s house when the nominations were announced.<\/p>\n

We had quite a late night,\u201d she explains, laughing, adding that she was \u201cdead asleep\u201d when the nominations came out in the early morning hours but was awakened by her phone lighting up.
