Jamie Lee Curtis is mourning the loss of ex-boyfriend Robert Carradine, following his death by suicide at age 71.<\/p>\n
In a touching Instagram tribute on Tuesday, the \u201cHalloween\u201d star, 67, fondly remembered her romance with the \u201cLizzie McGuire\u201d star as her \u201cfirst experience with domesticity and motherhood and partnership.\u201d<\/p>\n
She recalled their \u201cvery public meet cute\u201d during a 1977 interview on the \u201cDinah!\u201d show<\/a>, during which \u201cBobby rearranged where we were all sitting\u201d so that he could sit next to her, then kissed her \u201clive on television.\u201d<\/p>\n Curtis said she and Carradine, who were still young, fairly unknown actors at the time, quickly began dating and \u201cbecame a little family, [living] in a dirt-floored house in Laurel Canyon\u201d along with his daughter, Ever, who was 3 at the time.<\/p>\n \u201cI remember walking with Ever to the little Canyon market and bringing our laundry down to the laundromat below and folding her little clothes for the first time and the simplicity and beauty of Laurel Canyon in the late \u201970s,\u201d Curtis wrote.<\/p>\n She also recalled recognizing Carradine from the 1972 film \u201cThe Cowboys\u201d<\/a> only after they\u2019d been together for a while.<\/p>\n \u201cHe was my first crush in the movies and I didn\u2019t realize it,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n Even after the pair eventually broke up, they remained friends, Curtis said, adding that she\u2019s still friends with Ever to this day.<\/p>\n Carradine\u2019s daughter, who went to become an actress herself<\/a>, is now 51. In her own tribute on Instagram, Ever remembered her father as \u201ca lover, not a fighter,\u201d a man who was \u201call heart.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n The \u201cRevenge of the Nerds\u201d star\u2019s death<\/a> was confirmed to multiple outlets by brother and fellow actor Keith Carradine.<\/p>\n In a statement, the family wanted to be open about Robert\u2019s \u201cvaliant struggle against his nearly two-decade battle with bipolar disorder.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n \u201cThere is no shame in it,\u201d Oscar winner Keith, 76, told Deadline. \u201cIt is an illness that got the best of him, and I want to celebrate him for his struggle with it, and celebrate his beautiful soul.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
