Exclusive: Following an auction that saw several major studios vying for rights, sources tell Deadline that Apple Original Films<\/a> has crossed the finish line first in acquiring the untitled Lance Armstrong<\/a> movie package starring Austin Butler<\/a> as Armstrong<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Edward Berger<\/a> is directing the feature, with King Richard<\/a> scribe Zach Baylin<\/a> penning the spec. Apple Studios<\/a> will serve as the studio, with Scott Stuber<\/a> and Nick Nesbitt<\/a> producing along with Berger<\/a>. Josh Glick<\/a> and Zac Frognowski<\/a> will serve as executive producers alongside Baylin.<\/p>\n

Deadline first reported that the package hit the market earlier this month and added that Stuber has been working for some time to get Armstrong\u2019s life rights; for so long, in fact, it precedes Stuber\u2019s new United Artist<\/a> deal, which is why the project is going to market instead of Amazon MGM Studios getting first dibs.
