The nominations for\u00a0the 2026 class of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame have been announced \u2013 see the full list below.<\/p>\n
A total of 17 new names have been proposed for the latest round of inductions, which will take place in the autumn. From the 17 candidates, a panel of more than 1200 artists, historians and industry professionals will choose the successful names and that announcement will be made in April.<\/p>\n
Oasis<\/a>\u00a0make\u00a0the shortlist for the third consecutive year, while\u00a0Joy Division<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0New Order<\/a>, who are listed together as one candidate, are also up for a third time, having been nominated in 2023 and 2025. Other repeat nominees are Mariah Carey<\/a>,\u00a0Iron Maiden<\/a>,\u00a0Billy Idol<\/a>,\u00a0Sade<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0The Black Crowes<\/a>.<\/p>\n In terms of\u00a0first-time\u00a0nominees,\u00a0Lauryn Hill<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Jeff Buckley<\/a> have both made the shortlist, as have the Wu-Tang Clan<\/a>,\u00a0Pink<\/a>,\u00a0INXS<\/a>,\u00a0Phil Collins<\/a>, Luther Vandross,\u00a0Shakira<\/a>, New Edition and Melissa Etheridge<\/a>.<\/p>\n Artists become eligible for induction 25 years after their first commercial recording was released, although it is only Pink that gets onto the list on the first\u00a0time of\u00a0asking this year.\u00a0Collins, meanwhile,\u00a0has already been inducted as a member of\u00a0Genesis<\/a>\u00a0and if he were to be successful this year, he would become the 29th\u00a0artist to be inducted into the Rock Hall multiple times.<\/p>\n Fans can also vote for their\u00a0favourites\u00a0online, with their top five choices being counted as one vote from the \u201cfans ballot\u201d.\u00a0Cast your vote\u00a0here<\/a>.<\/p>\n Billy Idol<\/b> Last year,\u00a0the new inductees were The White Stripes, Cyndi Lauper, OutKast, Soundgarden, Bad Company, Chubby Checker and Joe Cocker<\/a>, while\u00a0Salt-N-Pepa<\/a>\u00a0and Warren Zevon were inducted\u00a0under\u00a0the \u2018Musical Influence\u2019 category.<\/p>\n Oasis being nominated for the third consecutive year might not please\u00a0frontman\u00a0Liam Gallagher<\/a>,\u00a0who reacted to their 2024 nomination by writing<\/a>: \u201cFuck the Rock n\u00a0Roll hall\u00a0of fame its full of BUMBACLARTS\u201d.\u00a0He also discouraged fans from voting for them, calling it \u201ca load of bollox\u201d.<\/p>\n He reiterated his sentiments last year<\/a>, saying the Hall is \u201cfor WANKERS\u201d,\u00a0although he replied to one fan asking what would happen if they got in by saying: \u201cObv\u00a0go and say it\u2019s the best thing EVER\u201d.<\/p>\n Peter Hook also spoke to\u00a0NME\u00a0<\/i>last year about last not making the cut<\/a>, suggesting that the current rift between himself and his former bandmates is the reason for their snub. \u201cYou\u2019re\u00a0in a weird situation here, because the camps\u00a0don\u2019t\u00a0have any communication and actively\u00a0don\u2019t\u00a0like each other,\u201d he said. \u201cWhen it comes to working on these things, you\u00a0have to\u00a0let your fans know that they can\u00a0vote\u00a0you in.\u00a0That\u2019s\u00a0how\u00a0it\u2019s\u00a0done \u2013\u00a0it\u2019s\u00a0not given to you.
