South Korean director Park Chan-wook<\/a> has been named president of the 2026 Cannes Film Festival jury, Cannes organizers announced on Thursday morning in Paris.<\/p>\n

Park Chan-wook is one of the foremost Korean directors of this century, with his films including \u201cNo Other Choice<\/a>,\u201d \u201cThe Handmaiden<\/a>,\u201d \u201cDecision to Leave<\/a>\u201d and the \u201cvengeance<\/a> trilogy\u201d of \u201cSympathy for Mr. Vengeance<\/a>,\u201d Oldboy<\/a>\u201d and \u201cLady Vengeance<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n

Park<\/a> will be Cannes\u2019 first Korean jury president, and the first Asian filmmaker to head the panel since Hong Kong director Wong Kar-wai<\/a> in 2006. The only Korean film to win the Palme d\u2019Or was Bong Joon Ho<\/a>\u2019s \u201cParasite<\/a>\u201d in 2019, though Park has won the Grand Prix for \u201cOldboy<\/a>…<\/p>\n
