While mockery simmered over U.S. men\u2019s hockey team members eating McDonald\u2019s at the White House<\/a> this week, some observers claimed victory for the U.S. women because their players dined with actor Stanley Tucci<\/a> at the Milan Cortina<\/a> Olympics<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cThe US women\u2019s hockey team got a fancy meal in Milan with Stanley Tucci,\u201d one person wrote<\/a>. \u201cThe Men\u2019s Team got McDonalds in the White House with a dictator. The women are the winners here.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n The women, apparently fresh off an early victory at the Games, dined with the \u201cHunger Games\u201d star and cookbook author at a restaurant listed in the Michelin guide<\/a> as NBC\u2019s cameras rolled.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n A snippet shared on Feb. 9 showed the chef bringing out a risotto dish while conversation bubbled.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n The women, who like the men defeated rival Canada in overtime for the gold, turned down<\/a> a Donald Trump<\/a> offer to visit him after he belittled them. While inviting the men to the White House and State of the Union address, he snarked that he\u2019d also have to invite the women or he\u2019d be impeached.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n USA Hockey said the women had scheduling conflicts. Rapper Flavor Flav announced later that the women had accepted his offer<\/a> to party with him in Las Vegas for a \u201creal celebration.\u201d Trump revisited the matter during his State of the Union address with the men\u2019s team in attendance. He claimed the women would come to the White House eventually<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n But his wisecrack left a bad taste in the mouth of captain Hilary Knight, who on Wednesday called it \u201cdistasteful<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Commenters said the women had already triumphed anyway \u2015 because of the cuisine and the company.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Some posts appeared to confuse the timing of the Tucci get-together but they\u2019re still worth digesting.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
