Sarah Michelle Gellar<\/a> is honoring her late Buffy the Vampire Slayer<\/a> <\/em>sibling Michelle Trachtenberg<\/a> on the first anniversary of her death.<\/p>\n The actress, 48, paid tribute to Trachtenberg, who died at 39 last February<\/a>, in a poignant Instagram post<\/a> on Thursday.\u00a0<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m not sure how it\u2019s been a year,\u201d Gellar began. \u201cI\u2019m one of the lucky ones who has over 30 years of memories with you. From our first day on set together, to less than a year later, when you were already taller than me.\u201d<\/p>\n Michelle Trachtenberg and Sarah Michelle Gellar on the set of ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’ The I Know What You Did Last Summer <\/em>star explained that she first worked with Trachtenberg on All My Children<\/em> before going on to watch her \u201cbecome a star\u201d in the 1996 film, Harriet the Spy<\/em>.\u00a0<\/p>\n She also remembered Trachtenberg\u2019s kindness both on and offscreen. \u201cYou were great to my kids,\u201d Gellar added. \u201cCountless kids bdays you attended even though I\u2019m sure you had somewhere cooler to be.\u201d<\/p>\n Gellar continued, \u201cBut most of all, when I think of you, that smile that took up your entire face and brought so much joy to others is what comes to mind. In April, the New York City Office of Chief Medical Examiner confirmed in a statement to Entertainment Weekly<\/em> that\u00a0her cause of death<\/a>\u00a0was complications from diabetes mellitus. The manner was determined to be natural.<\/p>\n Her passing prompted a wave of love from fans and\u00a0former costars<\/a>\u00a0alike, including\u00a0several of her Buffy<\/em> pals<\/a>. Last February, Gellar reacted to Trachtenberg’s death in a moving Instagram tribute that referenced the same speech Buffy\u00a0gave to Dawn<\/a>\u00a0in the show’s season 5 finale.<\/p>\n \u201cMichelle, listen to me,\u201d Gellar wrote on\u00a0Instagram<\/a>. “Listen. I love you. I will always love you. The hardest thing in this world, is to live in it. I will be brave. I can\u2019t imagine what 40 would have been like.\u201d<\/p>\n She continued, \u201cThis I know\u2026 it would be filled with love.
