At one point, Phypers admitted he \u201ccouldn\u2019t buy food\u201d and didn\u2019t \u201chave hot water.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s embarrassing,\u201d he said to a judge as Richards looked on.\u00a0<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Aaron Phypers and Richards apparently during happier times at a gala event in Los Angeles, June 2023. <span class=\"credit\">FilmMagic,<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module aligncenter wp-block-nypost-editor-primary-tag\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>Phypers went through his expenses, and explained to Judge Nicole Bershon he was living in a $15,000-a-month six-bedroom house with his parents and brother.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>He said he wanted to leave the pricey pad, but couldn\u2019t afford anywhere else to go, and is facing eviction for non-payment of rent.<\/p>\n<p>The West Valley home, originally shared with Richards, was damaged by \u201cthe 34 dogs Denise had\u201d he said. Phypers went on to say he owed $180,000 in back rent and damages.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Phypers claimed to the judge he owed $180,000 in back rent and damages to a home he once shared with Richards. <span class=\"credit\">WireImage<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>He also explained he had no car because he had to surrender his Ford F-150 truck due to cashflow woes.\u00a0When asked by the judge how he got to court, Phypers replied, \u201cI borrowed a car.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Richards, who was granted a restraining order against her ex, looked on while seated next to her attorney. The animated actress whispered frantically into her lawyer\u2019s ear during her ex\u2019s testimony. She was heard saying \u201cthat\u2019s bulls\u2013t\u201d at one point during the proceedings.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Richards, pictured arriving at the LA court Thursday, was granted a five-year permanent restraining order against Phypers, on November 7, 2025. <span class=\"credit\">Andy Johnstone for NY Post<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The couple were just a few feet away from each other at times, and during court breaks they each went their separate ways in the courthouse hallways.<\/p>\n<p>Richards arrived at the courthouse in a black top, leather skirt and high heels. Her attorney argued that she should not have to pay spousal support because she\u2019s a victim of domestic violence.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cVictims of abuse shouldn\u2019t be required to support their abusers,\u201d lawyer Mark Gross said.<\/p>\n<p>Richards was granted a five-year permanent restraining order against Phypers, on November 7, 2025.<\/p>\n<p>Phypers was arrested in October on four felony accounts related to violence against Richards.
