She took home her second GRAMMY Award ever when A Matter Of Time <\/em>won Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album at the beginning of February, and now she\u2019s made a very special announcement. Drumroll please\u2026 we\u2019ll be getting a deluxe edition called A Matter Of Time: The Final Hour<\/em><\/a> in April, and \u2018How I Get,\u2019<\/a> the first new track, is officially ours!<\/p>\n With an immersive chord progression and Laufey\u2019s beautiful vocals, \u2018How I Get\u2019 tells the story of a love that seems to bring her toward negative habits and mindsets. She reflects on how she gets drawn to vices like cigarettes, does things she\u2019ll regret later, and swings between moods. We see it as a sister song to \u2018Silver Lining,\u2019<\/a> which appears on the standard version of A Matter Of Time<\/em>. On \u2018Silver Lining,\u2019 she muses, \u201cI\u2019ve been falling in bad habits, staring into the abyss\u2026 When you go to Hell, I\u2019ll go there with you, too. And when we\u2019re punished for being so cruel, the silver lining\u2019s I\u2019ll be there with you.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n \u2018How I Get\u2019 closes with a background vocal that we think shows how she gets back to herself: \u201cThe pendulum swings back around. I need more tempo, crave more sound.\u201d<\/em> The pendulum ties into the album\u2019s time motif (think of an elegant grandfather clock with a swinging pendulum) and mirrors how it\u2019s only a matter of time<\/em><\/a> until that headspace becomes unsustainable to her. The tempo of a song is its speed, which musicians measure in beats per minute \u2013 Laufey explains in the press quote below that she lost control with this one person, but evidently needs a \u201cbeat\u201d or some kind of organized routine to feel steady.
