Actor Bobby J. Brown, best known for starring in The Wire<\/em>, had sadly died as a result of a fire at a barn in Maryland and made a heartbreaking plea in the lead up to his passing.<\/strong><\/p>\n On Thursday (February 26), Brown’s representative confirmed the 62-year-old had passed away<\/a>.<\/p>\n Paying tribute to the actor, his agent, Albert Bramante, said in a statement: “Bobby J. Brown was a uniquely talented actor and a man of great character. From his deep roots as a Golden Gloves champion to his impactful performances on screen, Bobby brought an unmistakable authenticity to everything he did.<\/p>\n “He was a dedicated professional and a true joy to represent. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time.”<\/p>\n As well as starring in The Wire <\/em>\u2014 where he was in 12 episodes across several seasons \u2014 Brown played a police officer in Law & Order: Special Victims Unit<\/em>, and directed two movies<\/a>, Tear the Roof Off <\/em>and Off the Chain.<\/em><\/p>\n Bobby J. According to the news outlet, the actor’s cause of death was diffuse thermal injury and smoke inhalation and has been ruled as an accident.<\/p>\n Reportedly the fire broke out in the barn after Brown tried to jumpstart a vehicle. When the barn was engulfed in flames, Brown’s wife, Arlene, tried to save him and ended up suffering serious burns as a result. <\/p>\n She had to be taken to MedStar Washington Hospital Center for treatment, FOX5<\/a> reports.<\/p>\n When the fire first began, Brown is said to have reached out to family members and asked them to bring a fire extinguisher. Tragically, by the time they got there, it was too late.<\/p>\n The late actor is survived by his wife and their two daughters.<\/p>\n The barn was already ‘engulfed in flames’ by the time emergency services got there (FOX 5 DC)<\/cite><\/div>\n A press release by St Mary’s County shared further details about the fire that broke out on Tuesday.<\/p>\n Part of it read: “On February 24, 2026, just after 10:00 p.m., firefighters with Leornardtown, Mechanicsville, and several other nearby fire departments responded to 36111 Roosevelt Boulevard for a reported barn fire with entrapment. 911 callers advised that a barn was on fire, and a person was trapped inside.<\/p>\n “Firefighters arrived to find a 50-by-100-foot barn nearly fully engulfed in fire. Family members on scene confirmed that one individual was still inside the structure.
