Megxit was sparked after Prince Harry<\/a> and Meghan Markle<\/a> demanded a unique hybrid model of being working royals<\/a> in the UK and US while staying financially independent and able to rake in cash from their new Sussex brand.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n The late Queen Elizabeth II<\/a>, an exemplar of duty, ruled their “half-in, half-out” proposal unworkable by stressing that one cannot “commercially trade” on royal status while still serving the Crown. But despite most Britons deeming ex-pat Harry, 41, and his actress wife Meghan, 44, pretty meaningless, they still like to burn carbon and jet across the world pretending they are<\/a> full-time UK royals on tour. And the timing of their latest desperate faux royal tour to the Middle East has only done one thing \u2013 deflected the world’s rightful glare and scrutiny off his recently-arrested uncle Andrew.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Yet despite their attempts to grab all the headlines, it may not have been the PR win they were hoping for. It has been claimed that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were “snubbed” by the King and Crown Prince of Jordan during their whistle-stop tour to their country.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n King of Jordan Abdullah II has strong ties to King Charles, while his son Crown Prince Hussein is also friends with Prince William<\/a>. Instead, the only member of the Jordanian Royal Family that Harry and Meghan met briefly was Princess Basma Bint Talal, an aunt of the current King. King Abdullah chose to meet Indonesian president Prabowo Subianto rather than the Sussexes.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Harry and Meghan landed in the capital, Amman, late on Tuesday night and, within hours, began a series of humanitarian visits to various charities. With their empathy faces fully switched on, they posed with as many sick children as possible \u2013 at a refugee camp and also at a hospital. PR boxes were fully ticked.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Their visit included what some branded an “inappropriate” red carpet event at the British ambassador\u2019s residence with World Health Organization officials, as the pair are private citizens not working royals.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n One royal insider said of the trip: “It\u2019s a pseudo royal visit, mimicking many of the things they or William and Kate would have done when they were part of the Firm, but it seems to be lacking in the ceremonial side of things.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Being a royal is like a lifeboat from the Titanic \u2013 there aren’t many, and it’s better to be in than out. Harry and Meghan opted to be out, hoping secretly to make Netflix<\/a> millions, sell their As Ever jam for \u00a310-a-pot and travel the world receiving royal red carpet treatment.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Instead, they have been sunk by their own grandiose delusions of importance.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
