On Wednesday, Amanda Seyfried<\/strong> told<\/a> The Scott Mills Breakfast Show<\/i> that while filming nude scenes for her leading role<\/a> in The Testament of Ann Lee<\/i>, she wore\u2014drumroll, please\u2014a prosthetic butthole.<\/p>\n

And folks, it\u2019s news like this that I come to the internet for.<\/p>\n

The Testament of Ann Lee<\/i> is a historical musical drama about\u2026Ann Lee, the religious leader who journeyed from England to America in the 1700s to form the United Society of Believers in Christ\u2019s Second Appearing, a Christian sect known as the Shakers. \u201cThis movie needed to be graphic, so I had a prosthetic butthole,\u201d Seyfried explained. Yes, naturally, you would need a prosthetic butthole for this movie about a celibate religious sect, Amanda. I completely agree.<\/p>\n

[!PROSTHETIC BUTTHOLE SPOILER ALERT!] The prosthetic in question appears in one of the film\u2019s final scenes. \u201cI was pregnant and naked, but I wasn\u2019t naked at all, and at the end of the movie, I\u2019m standing in front of a burning building with just a merkin,\u201d she explained. \u201cI felt so free.\u201d<\/p>\n

Unfortunately, she did clarify: \u201cYou cannot see my butthole in the scene, but I swear there is a prosthetic butthole there.\u201d Release the butthole cut.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was cool. It was exciting,\u201d she added. Sure. No big deal, Amanda. Like you didn\u2019t just sell me the entire film in one sentence.<\/p>\n

Whenever I\u2019m sinking into the dull monotony of existence, I can always count on her to drop an unhinged quote and bring me back to life. Take, for example, the amazing bit of press she did for The Housemaid <\/i>earlier this year, when she revealed she had \u201cno idea\u201d<\/a> she was a producer on the film until three weeks into production.<\/p>\n

Even if this prosthetic butthole story is just a sneaky bit of PR, you\u2019ve gotta admit\u2014at least it\u2019s creative. I\u2019ve heard a million press soundbites that are boring at best. Oh, Margot Robbie<\/strong> got Jacob Elordi<\/strong> a matching ring on the set of Wuthering Heights?<\/i> I\u2019m falling asleep<\/a>. Liam Neeson<\/strong> and Pamela Anderson<\/strong> fell in love on the set of <\/i>The Naked Gun. What do you take me for<\/a>? An idiot?<\/p>\n

Where\u2019s the originality? Where\u2019s the whimsy? Where are the prosthetic buttholes????<\/p>\n

We need more celebrities like Seyfried who are willing to be silly, because media training is SO last year. This year, let\u2019s get a little crazy with our PR. We could all use a bit more silliness in our lives.<\/p>\n
