LOS ANGELES \u2014 The Art Directors Guild celebrated 30 years as it honored production design across 13 categories that include film, TV, commercials, music videos and shorts.<\/p>\n
The guild said the ceremony honored the artists who design the \u201cenvironments where stories come to life.\u201d Winners were announced Saturday during a ceremony at the InterContinental in downtown Los Angeles.<\/p>\n
This year, the guild honored Rep. Laura Friedman with the President\u2019s Award for her advocacy of state and federal tax incentives that aim to support union jobs in the entertainment industry.<\/p>\n
\u201cCongresswoman Friedman\u2019s advocacy has been resolute, securing California tax incentives and recently co-authoring a bill with Sen. Adam Schiff for a much-needed federal tax incentive,\u201d the ADG said in a statement.<\/p>\n
Also, being honored Saturday night with the ADG\u2019s Cinematic Imagery Award is \u201cWicked,\u201d \u201cWicked: For Good\u201d director Jon M. Chu. The award is given to a filmmaker whose body of work has significantly enriched the visual experience of storytelling and elevated the visibility of the art department.<\/p>\n
\u201cI share this honor with the countless craftspeople who poured their hearts into those worlds (Oz), and I am deeply grateful to the Art Directors Guild and its members for this recognition,\u201d Chu said.<\/p>\n
Chu\u2019s upcoming project as director is the highly anticipated biopic for Britney Spears, based on her memoir \u201cThe Woman in Me\u201d with Universal.<\/p>\n
Among those who presented Saturday night were Samba Schutte, Atsuko Okatsuka, Frank Grillo, Christopher Gorhman, and Awkwafina, among others.<\/p>\n
