THERE ARE CERTAIN<\/strong> shows on HBO that just know how to get people talking. The latest entry in that historic lineage has arrived in the form of DTF St. Louis, <\/em>a series starring Jason Bateman, David Harbour, and Linda Cardellini that manages to blend dark comedy, mid-life malaise drama, and mystery all in one.<\/p>\n Sound good? The show follows Clark (Bateman), a television weatherman and local quasi-celebrity, whose life changes forever when he strikes up a friendship with Floyd (Harbour), a jovial ASL interpreter who saves his life during an on-air forecast. Things get decidedly more complicated when Floyd’s wife, Carol (Cardellini) enters the picture, and a love triangle forms. If you think you know how that kind of story tends to play out… think again. DTF St. Louis <\/em>is the kind of show that every time you think it’s going to zig, it zags, and then zigs again, and then zags two more times. And then maybe zigs once more for good measure.<\/p>\n It’s the kind of show that you’re going to be want to be up on. Not only is it very funny, <\/em>but there’s also a mystery angle (anchored by law enforcement agents played by the great Richard Jenkins and Wednesday <\/em>star Joy Sunday) that’ll have you theorizing what we haven’t learned yet week in and week out.
