Kelly Osbourne is asking people to \u201cstop kicking me while I\u2019m down\u201d after her appearance at the Brit Awards on Saturday garnered a slew of body shamers scrutinizing her appearance.<\/p>\n
Osbourne, 41, was onstage alongside her mother, Sharon, to accept a lifetime achievement award for her father late Black Sabbath frontman Ozzy Osbourne. Osbourne died last summer<\/a> of a heart attack at 76 <\/a>after a legendary heavy metal career.<\/p>\n But audience reactions to clips of their acceptance speech focused more on Kelly Osbourne\u2019s body than her father\u2019s award. On social media, many expressed shock about her thinness, with some voicing concerns about her health and others commenting on suspicions of Ozempic use.<\/p>\n \u201cThere is a special kind of cruelty in harming someone who is clearly going through something,\u201d Osbourne wrote in an Instagram story Sunday, aiming her statement at those online who are \u201ckicking me while I\u2019m down, doubting my pain, spreading my struggles as gossip, and turning your back when I need support and love most.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m currently going through the hardest time in my life,\u201d Osbourne added. \u201cI should not even have to defend myself. She shared to her Instagram story last week a screenshot of one comment that called her \u201ctooooo thin and fragile,\u201d compared her to \u201ca dead body\u201d and mocked that she \u201cLooks like she\u2019s going to see her dad soon.\u201d<\/p>\n Osbourne called out the behavior as \u201cdisgusting,\u201d writing: \u201cNo one deserves this sort of abuse!\u201d<\/p>\n \n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tKelly Osbourne is getting honest about protecting herself from haters.\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n She\u2019s been on the receiving end of speculation about her health and appearance for months. And last year, the \u201cWicked: For Good\u201d press tour spawned various think pieces<\/a> about the comeback of thinness, as well as intense online discourse<\/a> about whether it\u2019s ever appropriate to comment on people\u2019s bodies.<\/p>\n The British Academy Film Awards last weekend drew similar concern, as many took to social media to share their opinions on the thinness of several celebrity attendees. British actress Jameela Jamil was among those who voiced her unease<\/a> in an Instagram post last week.<\/p>\n \u201cThe women at the BAFTAS were scarily thin, in a way that reminded me of watching when I was a kid,\u201d Jamil wrote. \u201cWhere everyone looks like they could snap. It\u2019s a specifically fragile type of thin.\u201d<\/p>\n She added that she \u201cresent[s] this beauty standard being pushed on everyone, I resent the obedience of my industry, and fear the impact on the impressionable people at home thinking that is the only way to be accepted.\u201d<\/p>\n Jamil further warned commenters not to \u201cwaste time and energy with \u2018skinny shaming\u2019 accusations,\u201d noting that as a slim woman, she herself has been ridiculed before for her thinness.<\/p>\n \u201cWe should all be all sorts of different sizes.
