WARRENVILLE, S.C. (WJBF) \u2013 American Idol<\/a> <\/em>viewers will learn Monday night if the Idol journey continues for Chloe Lauren of Warrenville.<\/p>\n The February 23rd episode ended on a cliffhanger for Lauren, with judges Luke Bryan<\/a>, Lionel Richie<\/a> and Carrie Underwood<\/a> debating whether or not to send her to the safety of the \u201cGolden Room\u201d, from which the top 30 will eventually be chosen from the 127 that made it to \u201cHollywood Week\u201d.<\/p>\n \u201cBeing here on \u2018Hollywood Week\u2019 is nerve-racking,\u201d Lauren said. \u201cThis does feel like a big opportunity. Stuff like this just doesn\u2019t happen to people like me.<\/p>\n \u201cGrowing up in Warrenville was very different,\u201d Lauren said before her performance in a segment set in her hometown. \u201cIt\u2019s very small, not very wealthy\u201d.<\/p>\n Lauren said she moved at least 10 times while growing up, switching schools frequently.<\/p>\n \u201cI just didn\u2019t feel like I fit in anywhere,\u201d she said. \u201cI didn\u2019t really have a lot of friends. Music was the constant in all of that. I would lay in bed at night and hope and pray that something would come about, and now I\u2019m here\u201d.<\/p>\n Performing on night one of \u201cHollywood Week: Music City Takeover\u201d in Nashville, Lauren sang a slowed-down version of Cyndi Lauper\u2019s \u201cGirls Just Wanna Have Fun\u201d<\/a> to mixed reviews from the judges.<\/p>\n \u201cYou have one of the most original-sounding voices in the whole competition,\u201d said Bryan as Lauren fought back tears following her performance. \u201cWhen I heard the moodier version I got confused because I wanted the original version, but I really enjoyed your version, but then it got a little sleepy, but then I still loved your voice\u201d.<\/p>\n AMERICAN IDOL \u2013 \u201c905 (Hollywood Week In Music City \u2013 Part 1)\u201d \u2013 For the first time, Idol is bringing Hollywood Week to Music City as hopefuls take the stage for a make-or-break performance and face the biggest Hollywood Week cut in Idol history. I tried to do the best that I could\u201d.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s almost like she\u2019s giving up on herself,\u201d Bryan said to his fellow judges after Lauren left the stage.<\/p>\n \u201cShe\u2019s got the voice,\u201d Richie replied. \u201cWrong song\u201d.<\/p>\n \u201cThe pressure of the competition is definitely a factor,\u201d she said. \u201cI don\u2019t feel like I did my very best.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s really about pushing myself and wanting to win, because I know I can\u201d.<\/p>\n Watch American Idol <\/em>Mondays at 8 p.m. on WJBF NewsChannel 6.
