\n\tThe BBC<\/a> show inspired watch parties and was the talk of the nation for weeks, as comedian Alan Carr went undetected as a traitor and ultimately triumphed in a thrilling final episode in November.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Season 1 finale was watched by an audience of 15.4M, according to 28-day viewing figures published by Barb, the UK\u2019s official television ratings body.<\/p>\n

\n\tThis made it the highest-rated episode of the season and the biggest single title on British television in 2025. Although 28-day viewing figures are not yet available for the full year, no other show is likely to come close to The Celebrity Traitors.<\/p>\n

\n\tBelow is a run-down of the 10 best-performing titles on TV and streaming in 2025. It does not contain the final six weeks of the year, but is unlikely to change much. The most plausible entrant may be a late-season episode of Strictly Come Dancing, which could creep into the lower echelons of the top 10.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe ranking reveals that not only did The Celebrity Traitors perform strongly, but its civilian sister show The Traitors also figured, with its highest-rated episode attracting 10.8M viewers early in the year.<\/p>\n

\n\tImpressively, a single production company, Studio Lambert, clinched three spots in the top 10 as Race Across The World (also produced for the BBC) snatched ninth place with 8.3M viewers. The reality format\u2019s celebrity version also performed well, premiering with 7.9M viewers, putting it just outside the top 10.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe BBC laid claim to half the titles in the table, with Netflix and ITV each picking up two places apiece. Channel 4 managed a single spot, thanks to the enduring popularity of The Great British Bake Off, which cooked up an audience of 8.72M for the first instalment in Season 16.<\/p>\n

\n\tGlobally, the story of a British teenager radicalized by the manosphere became Netflix\u2019s second most-watched series of all time. It went on to win eight Emmys and will likely dominate the BAFTA TV Awards when the event rolls around in May.<\/p>\n

\n\tElsewhere in streaming, Netflix dominated the top 10 series with eight entries. British shows, including Harlan Coben\u2019s Missing You, Hostage, and Dept. Q, featured heavily. Stranger Things\u2018 final season also appeared, even though this was only a seven-day viewing figure. The drama will rise up the ranking when the 28-day figure is published.<\/p>\n

\n\tAmazon\u2019s Prime Video grabbed two places. Clarkson\u2019s Farm remained hugely popular with British viewers, while the streamer had a fresh hit in the shape of comedy competition show LOL: Last One Laughing UK. Both series will return in 2026.<\/p>\n

\n\tOther points of order: there was no place for the final season of Squid Game in the top 10, despite the Korean drama being Netflix\u2019s most-watched franchise<\/a> in recent years. Disney+ failed to register a single series in the top 20, let alone the top 10.<\/p>\n

\n\tOver in films, The Thursday Murder Club topped the ranking with 10M viewers, which also bagged the Richard Osman adaptation sixth-place in the top 10 titles on British TV last year. With four other books in the series, it would be a surprise if Netflix does not revisit the cosy crime world of Coopers Chase.<\/p>\n
