The G20 <\/em>star opened up to Entertainment Tonight <\/em>on the carpet at the 2026 Actor Awards about how she “can’t handle” the fact that her daughter Genesis is leaving the house in a few years<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n Davis shares her daughter with husband Julius Tennon<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n Viola Davis<\/a> is not ready to become an empty nester.<\/p>\n The G20<\/em> star, 60, chatted with Entertainment Tonight<\/em><\/a> on the red carpet at the 2026 Actor Awards<\/a>, formerly known as the\u00a0SAG Awards, where she discussed how she “can’t handle” her impending status as an empty nester. Davis, who shares her daughter Genesis, 15, with husband Julius Tennon<\/a>, shared that she’s not ready to let go of her daughter just yet.<\/p>\n \u201cNo, I’m serious. I can’t handle it,\u201d she said, as Tennon, 72, jokingly added, “I can. I’m good.”<\/p>\n The actress teased that she already has plans to microchip her daughter “just so I could track her.” In contrast, Tennon quipped that the teen can \u201ccall me whenever you want to call me, but bye.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cThat’s my baby,” Davis said, shaking her head with a sad expression on her face.<\/p>\n The Woman King<\/em> actress told the outlet that her teenage daughter is no different than any other. Davis shared that she is “surprised” when her daughter wants to spend time with her and Tennon, adding she just “rolls her eyes” at them.<\/p>\n “Not really. No, she’s 15. No, I’m serious,\u201d she said. “I’m surprised when she does want to hang out with us. But, you know, she thinks we’re funny. We can’t do anything. We can’t do anything with technology. Back in April 2025, the How to Get Away with Murder<\/em> actress made an appearance on\u00a0Good Morning America<\/em><\/a>\u00a0to promote her action film G20<\/em>. While speaking with co-anchor\u00a0Michael Strahan<\/a>, Davis opened up about how her daughter’s reaction to the film made her feel, describing it as “everything” to her.<\/p>\n “She was so excited. She kept saying, ‘Oh my goodness. Mom, Mom, you’re golden, mama. You’re golden!’ And she cried. She laughed,” she told the former professional football player. “I loved being the hero to my teenage daughter. Because usually in these teenage years, you just disappear. They become zombies, and you become anything other than a hero.”<\/p>\n “Her sitting there watching me like that… It just, yeah. It was everything,” she added.<\/p>\n
