On an episode of <\/span>misSPELLING hosted by Tori Spelling<\/span><\/a>, he shared key plot details.<\/span><\/p>\n The sequel would feature John Tucker receiving \u201ckarmic retribution\u201d by watching his teenage daughter deal with \u201ca bunch of John Tuckers.\u201d Metcalfe said the character would be coaching the girls basketball team at his daughter\u2019s high school, adding, \u201cThat\u2019s the broad premise without ruining a movie that\u2019s not even greenlit yet.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n The concept flips the original on its head: instead of a group of girls taking down one guy, John Tucker \u2014 now a dad \u2014 would watch his daughter navigate a whole squad of them. It would have been a female-centered next-generation storyline with the original cast returning in supporting roles.<\/span><\/p>\n Kebbel maintained a hopeful tone about the project eventually coming back to life. Metcalfe was more blunt during his July 2025 podcast appearance. He said the script was finished and sitting at 20th Century Fox but suggested it may not move forward.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019d say it\u2019s probably not gonna happen,\u201d Metcalfe said. \u201cThey\u2019ve been sitting on the script for a while. Everyone in the cast said they\u2019d participate and it just hasn\u2019t happened.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n The timeline tracks the project\u2019s decline. In March 2024, the cast was publicly hyping the sequel at a reunion panel. By October 2024, Kebbel told <\/span>Peo<\/span><\/a>ple<\/span><\/a>, \u201cThere\u2019s a lot of talk about the sequel. We\u2019re continuing to do our best to push forward on that.\u201d She also said, \u201cI don\u2019t quite know what to say without saying much, but it\u2019s a special, special project.
